Introduction
For years (a lifetime actually) I had been searching for an idea that would capture my fascination and turn into a long-term writing project. I tried many diffent things but nothing really struck me as anything that made me really want to develop it or myself as a writer.
Then a few years ago I discovered manga and japanese anime and I found a style that really let my imagination go off. Combine it with RPG's (the D&D kind, and the Final Fantasy kind) and my creativity really hit it's stride. I began daydreaming, influenced by the shows I was watching, and slowly out of the ether rose that long-elusive project in the form of a girl named Firefly.
In HnH, Firefly is a super-powered fighter named Miriam Nixon. The series follows Miriam/Firefly from a terrifying accident when she's just short of 3, through the years as she battles all manner of evil folk, including the evil Hara Clan (not to say all people named Hara are evil, just these ones). Although she is the series central character, the story is also about the other people in her life, and the events that effect them all. Most notably her partner Allan, who is the other lead character.
A second series "Hotaru no Sensou" is also planned but right now my focus is on the original.
In this site I will provide you with a preview of the series, a view of the work in progress. And I will post notes and my insights on the development of Hotaru no Hikari. Ultimately, HnH will be a manga (japanese anime-style comic) and possibly more. As of right now this project is a labour of love, I'm spending more time and money on it than I'm making back (NOTHING). But in the future should I find an artist/co-writer who shares my vision, and a publisher who won't crap all over it, then I'll take it to the masses.
For now, however, I am working out character, 'technical', and plot details and writing the stories that will be adapted into manga form when I feel I'm ready to take the next step.

Big THANKS to Lori Thomas, who has allowed me to use her picture "Firefly" on the splash page. You can check out a gallery of Lori's other works at Elfwood or visit her website for more.
I would also like to take a quick moment to publicly thank (as opposed to publicly humiliate, as I normally do) my friend Darcy who from Day One has acted as my "creative sounding-board". He has read my stories and given (sometimes constructive) feedback, listened to my ideas, helping me genertate some, even putting out some good ones of his own. I also unload my creative frustrations on him, which he takes with a grain of salt, but usually eggs me on until my head bursts. So in the words of Denis Leary, "Thank you, thank you, and FUCK YOU!!"
